On November 28 the Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on Defense, National Security and Internal Affairs Koryun Nahapetyan met with the experts from Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary, who aimed at preliminary studying for the implementation of the project of the Reforms Center of the Security Sphere in the South Caucasus Republics.

The leading organization being involved with the draft law is the Center for European and North Atlantic Affairs of Slovakia, the counterparts of which are the Institutes of the International Institutes of the Czech Republic and Poland, the National University of the Public Service of Hungary, and the Strategic Analytical Centre Spectrum in Armenia.

As the guests presented, the goal of their meetings in the sphere of security is the discussion of Armenia’s needs and experience, the record of current realities and precision of the issue how to use the experience of the Central abd Eastern Europe in Armenia.

Highlighting the experts’ mission Koryun Nahapetyan has noticed that in three republics of the region the problems of the security and have both commonness and considerable differences, which are conditioned by the peculiarities of the problems and the reasons of which should be at best studied for making objective and true conclusions and effective cooperation.

The Committee Chairman has said that one of the most important functions of the Committee is the parliamentary oversight of the defense structures, which is carried out through legislative reforms and their use, budgetary control, discussions with the executive bodies in different formats. In this sphere it is possible to effectively cooperate with European experts, if they make concrete proposals, present the experience of their countries. According to Koryun Nahapetyan the specialists’ training, educational courses, the publications of manuals on the sphere can also be ways of cooperation. He proposed the experts to present their notions on concrete ways of cooperation, to specify the directions and make more effective the cooperation in future.
